ETP FARM TOUR 2021, Pisa Italy
On 14-15th October, 2021, ETP organized its 4th ETP Farm Tour in Pisa, Italy, with past 3 Farm Tour held in UK (2015), Italy (2016) and Norway (2019). Taking advantage of a mild Mediterranean weather, 70 sod farmers and industry delegates from 13 European (and non-European) countries joined this event, which was a success after a long time with travel restrictions.
In an intense 2-day program, the participants saw and learned how turf is grown in Tuscany. There was also time to interact and network with each other, and enjoy the atmosphere of sunny and beautiful Italy.
The centre of the event was the Grand Hotel Duomo, in Pisa (IT), next to the Square of Miracles (Cathedral Square). The first visit was at the UNESCO World Heritage Site with a guided tour of its turfgrass (2,5 ha of Tall Fescue/Bluegrass/Bermudagrass). After the visit the participants could enjoy a welcome drink & dinner in the Hotel terrace with Dome view. A first opportunity to catch up and network with friends and colleagues.
The next day was dedicated to the technical visits of the ETP Farm Tour. The first stop was at the sod farm Bindi, a company with more than 20 years of experience that supply sod throughout Italy and Europe. After a coffee break, the participants went to the second visit of the day, the Hi Turf Solutions nurseries, where they could learn about a patented method to make a warm-season grass turf.
The Farm Tour was closed by an exquisite lunch, after which the participants were left to chill out and relax in the glasshouses of Hi Turf Solutions company.
