ETP FARM TOUR 2024 Rome, Italy

On 17-18th October 2024, ETP organized its 6th ETP Farm Tour in Rome, Italy, with past 5 Farm Tour held in: Lincoln, UK (2015), Apulia, Italy (2016), Oslo, Norway (2019), Pisa, Italy (2021), Izmir, Turkey (2023). Taking advantage of a mild Mediterranean weather and of the beauty of Rome, more than 200 sod farmers and industry delegates from 23 European and non-European countries joined this event, including 50 delegates from USA, which was a success.

The opportunity to catch up and network with friends and colleagues.

In an intense 2-day program, the participants saw and learned how turf is grown in central Italy. There was also time to interact and network with each other and enjoy the warm atmosphere of Rome and beautiful surrounds.

 

The centre of the event was the Hotel dei Congressi, where the participants met on the evening of the 16th October and they could enjoy a welcome drink & food in the Hotel terrace, with typical Italian food. A first opportunity to catch up and network with friends and colleagues.

The welcome was followed by the ETP General Assembly (where balance 2023 and budget 2024 were approved). It was also announced the 2025 Turf Expo, which will be held on July 03rd – 4th 2025 in Luxembourg, a central European position.

Technical visits

The next day was dedicated to the technical visits of the ETP Farm Tour. The first stop was the Beccia Farm where the participants could enjoy a coffee break offered by the brothers Beccia. After the visit, the participants moved to Bindi’s Farm where a typical Italian lunch was offered on the turfgrass of the sod farm. After the lunch the participants visited the farm with a nice walk on the turfgrasses.

 

The day was closed by an exquisite dinner in a restaurant in the Appia Antica Road, during which the participants were left to chill out and relax.

 

On the 18th October the group visited the Olimpico Stadium, and after the visit of the pitch, the participants enjoyed a pleasant lunch all together. Second stop was at the Marco Simone Golf Club, with a complete report talk of the Greenkeeper and with a final goodbye drink and aperitif.
